Geberit Bathroom Transformation: Designing and planning a modern, colourful and practical family space.

When Geberit got in touch with me recently and asked if I’d like to partner with them on their new campaign I quite literally jumped at the chance. This project came along at the perfect time, as I had been looking into the possibility of transforming our very dull lifeless 70’s family bathroom into a contemporary, colourful, personality-filled space. When it comes to designing sleek, efficient and hygienic bathroom products, the Swiss sure know how to do it well.

The Project

When Geberit got in touch with me recently and asked if I’d like to partner with them on their new campaign I quite literally jumped at the chance. I attended a Geberit event two years ago at Vizzini bathrooms, hosted by the fabulous Emily Murray from The Pink House, and I was blown away by their innovative range of sanitary products. Their space-saving, user-friendly ceramic appliances and versatile storage solutions were extremely impressive. Hey, they even have a “shower” toilet, and yes it’s pretty much what it says on the tin, a toilet that cleans you afterwards! When it comes to designing sleek, efficient and hygienic bathroom products, the Swiss sure know how to do it well.

This project came along at the perfect time, as I had been looking into the possibility of transforming our very dull lifeless 70’s family bathroom into a contemporary, colourful, personality-filled space! I wanted to design a room that not only delivers style and practicality but functions well to cope with the traffic of all of its users. It’s also important to me that it stays hygienic and it’s designed in a way that it is able to cope with water splashes and humidity, without it looking too worn.

Research

Our bathroom is a fairly small-sized space, therefore requires a lot more thought, especially when it comes to choosing the furniture and WC. When designing this type of space it’s always important to spend time carefully researching and sourcing appliances that are going to suit the size, shape and style of the room, as well as the people using it! So, before rushing off to design a layout, select furniture and create a “vision”, I felt it was important that I found out a little more about the Geberit brand. With this in mind, I visited The Bathroom Company showroom in Edinburgh. I asked design and sales assistant and architect Gareth Gilchrist quite simply….why Geberit? And here’s what they he had to say:

Swiss Precision Engineering – Synonymous with top quality engineering, Swiss engineering is famously regarded to be extremely high quality, it’s perhaps the only country that’s engineering is more desirable than Germany, and in this case, this is certainly true for their in-wall cisterns as it is also the number one selling system in Germany. If you are buying Geberit, you are guaranteed a real premium product that has been perfectly manufactured and is made of top-quality materials.

Functionality – The functionality of the Geberit products has been at the forefront of every product they produce. My favourite Geberit Product for instance is AquaClean Mera, a smart toilet with an integrated bidet function, is so functional that you can list ten amazing things about the product before you start listing the luxury features such as the heated seat

Luxury – The product design is contemporary but timeless and can be combined to suit many different tastes. Pragmatic, sophisticated functions also offer a range of solutions when it comes to cleanliness, space, comfort, and user-friendliness, all of which make life in the bathroom easier.

Top Level Designers – Geberit employs some of the very best in-house designers of any company and this is particularly apparent in the variety of furniture ranges that they offer. They also employ other famous designers to create ranges such as renowned Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio.

Hygiene – Again, the function of the AquaClean range is at the forefront of personal hygiene technology. Only water cleans you properly. Looking after personal hygiene means paying particular attention to intimate areas.

My Vision

After my visit to the showroom I decided on the Geberit Acanto range. Straight away, I was drawn to the modular and soft organic designs – these are perfect for creating a “timeless” bathroom scheme. They also have cleverly designed storage and an easy to clean rimless WC which really sold it to me! I pulled together a “vision” teaming up their products with lots of colour popping and bold accessories that will for sure inject modern life into this space and bring it alive! (Please find below all of the fabulous products I have used).

To Be Continued

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Geberit and learning all about their fantastic range of innovative products and I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into creating this fresh, modern, colourful and welcoming bathroom scheme and bring my design to fruition!

Do stay tuned for further updates,
